Maysarah ibn Ḥabīb narrated, through al-Minhāl ibn ʿAmr, from ʿĀʾishah bint Ṭalḥah, from ʿĀʾishah, who said: “I never saw anyone whose speech and manner of conversation more closely resembled the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than Fāṭimah. Whenever she entered his presence, he would rise to greet her, kiss her, and welcome her, and she did the same for him.” ʿĀʾishah also likened Fāṭimah’s gait to that of the Prophet ﷺ.
Fāṭimah had felt resentment toward Abū Bakr when she asked for her share of Fadak, and he replied, “I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, ‘Whatever we leave behind is charity.’”
Abū Ḥamzah al-Sukkarī reported, through Ibn Abī Khālid, from al-Shaʿbī: When Fāṭimah became ill, Abū Bakr came to seek permission to visit her. ʿAlī said, “O Fāṭimah, Abū Bakr is asking permission to enter.” She asked, “Would you like me to admit him?” He answered, “Yes.” She therefore allowed him in. Abū Bakr entered, seeking her good pleasure, and said, “By Allah, I left my home, my wealth, my family, and my clan only in pursuit of Allah’s approval, His Messenger’s approval, and your approval, O People of the Household.” He continued to conciliate her until she was satisfied.
Al-Zuhrī narrated, through ʿUrwah, from ʿĀʾishah, that Fāṭimah lived six months after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and was buried at night.
Al-Wāqidī said: “This is, in our view, the soundest of the reports.” He added: “Al-ʿAbbās led the funeral prayer over her, and al-ʿAbbās, ʿAlī, and al-Faḍl ibn al-ʿAbbās descended into her grave.”
Saʿīd ibn ʿAfīr stated: “She passed away on the night of Tuesday, three days into the month of Ramaḍān,”
