105 – al-Kamākhī, Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad *

The venerable shaykh Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Sāwī (6), nicknamed al-Kamākhī, was an accomplished, widely-travelled traditionist.

He heard ḥadith in Nīshāpūr from the judge Abū Bakr al-Ḥīrī, Abū Saʿīd Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Ṣayrafī, Abū Bakr al-Barqānī, Hibat Allāh al-Lālkāʾī, and a number of others.

Among those who narrated from him were: the ḥāfiẓ Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad; Saʿīd ibn Saʿd Allāh al-Mīhanī; his two brothers Hibat Allāh and Rāḍiya; Abū Zurʿa al-Maqdisī; and others.

He also recounted the Musnad of al-Shāfiʿī from a copy that had no original source (7).
