Abū Ḥāzim ibn al-Farrāʾ acquired his jurisprudence under him, and he granted ijāzas (teaching authorizations) to Ghānim ibn Khalaf and Abū Naṣr al-Ghāzī.
He passed away in Shawwāl of the year 486 AH, when he was in his eighties.
53 – Niẓām al-Mulk al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq al-Ṭūsī
The great vizier, Niẓām al-Mulk, Quwām al-Dīn, Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq al-Ṭūsī, was intelligent, politically astute, experienced, fortunate, devout, and dignified; his gatherings were always filled with Qur’an reciters and jurists.
He founded the Great Madrasa in Baghdad (1), another in Nishapur, and a third in Ṭūs (2). He promoted the pursuit of knowledge, assigned regular stipends to the students, dictated hadith, and his renown spread far and wide.
…the Quran, hadith, jurisprudence, and public lecturing. Almost all the Hanbalis of Baghdad studied with him and benefited from his teaching. He was of upright conduct and pleasing manners; everything he undertook was marked by soundness and integrity.

(1) This refers to the famous Nizamiyya madrasa. Construction began in 457/1065. In 459/1067 people of every social rank were assembled so that Abu Ishaq al-Shirazi could deliver the inaugural lesson. When he did not appear, Abu Nasr ibn al-Sabbagh, author of al-Shamil, lectured for twenty days, after which Shaykh Abu Ishaq assumed the teaching chair.
(2) A large district in the region of Nishapur comprising three hundred and twenty-one villages.
تَفقَّهَ بِهِ أَبُو حَازِمٍ بنُ الفَرَّاءِ، وَأَجَازَ لِغَانِمِ بن خَلَفٍ، وَأَبِي نَصْرٍ الغَازِي.
مَاتَ: فِي شَوَّال، سَنَةَ سِتٍّ وَثَمَانِيْنَ وَأَرْبَعِ مائَةٍ، فِي عَشْرِ الثَّمَانِيْنَ.
٥٣ - نِظَامُ المُلْكِ الحَسَنُ بنُ عَلِيِّ بنِ إِسْحَاقَ الطُّوْسِيُّ *
الوَزِيْر الكَبِيْر، نِظَام المُلْك، قِوَامُ الدِّين، أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الحَسَنُ بنُ عَلِيِّ بن إِسْحَاقَ الطُّوْسِيُّ، عَاقلٌ، سَائِسٌ، خَبِيرٌ، سَعِيْدٌ، مُتَدَيِّنٌ، مُحتَشمٌ، عَامِرُ المَجْلِس بِالقُرَّاء وَالفُقَهَاء.
أَنشَأَ المدرسَة الكُبْرَى بِبَغْدَادَ (١) ، وَأُخْرَى بِنَيْسَابُوْرَ، وَأُخْرَى بِطُوْسَ (٢) ، وَرغَّب فِي العِلْمِ، وَأَدرَّ عَلَى الطلبَة الصِّلاَت، وَأَملَى الحَدِيْثَ، وَبَعُدَ صيتُه.
= القرآن والحديث والفقه والمحاضرة، وقرأ عليه عامة الحنابلة ببغداد، وانتفعوا به، وكان حسن السيرة، جميل الطريقة، جرت أموره على سداد واستقامة.

(١) وهي المشهورة بالمدرسة النظامية، شرع في عمارتها سنة سبع وخمسين وأربع مئة، وفي سنة تسع وخمسين جمع الناس على طبقاتهم ليدرس بها أبو إسحاق الشيرازي.
فلم يحضر، فذكر الدرس أبو نصر بن الصباغ صاحب الشامل عشرين يوما، ثم جلس الشيخ أبو إسحاق بعد ذلك.
(٢) ناحية كبيرة من نواحي نيسابور تشتمل على ثلاث مئة وإحدى وعشرين قرية.
