and Ibn Dulaf, Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahid al-Daqqaq, Abu Zurʿa Tahir ibn Muhammad al-Maqdisi and his father, al-Qasim ibn al-Fadl al-Saydalani, Abu Tahir al-Silafi, Rajaʾ ibn Hamid al-Maʿdani, Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Mashādha, and many others.

Shirawayh said, “I journeyed to him in al-Karaj and had my son listen to him. He was acceptable, commended by the dignitaries, and benevolent toward the poor and the scholars.”

Ibn Tahir remarked, “I travelled with my son Abu Zurʿa to al-Karaj so that he could hear the Musnad of al-Shafiʿi from al-Sallār Makki. He had already heard it in Nishapur, and Ibn Harun produced a copy for him. The source manuscripts were sound and reliable.”

Abu Tahir al-Silafi said, “Al-Sallār was a man of great standing, decisive in his authority, loved by his subjects because of his innate generosity. On the last visit he paid to Isfahan I was the first to read to him, but I was unable to take much from him before death overtook him.”

Al-Samʿani wrote, “He was one of the leading figures of al-Karaj, endowed with abundant wealth, vast worldly means, and acknowledged precedence in his town. He lived so long that people set out to see him, and a great deal was transmitted from him, for he had caught the chains of transmission of both Iraq and Khurasan.”

Yahya ibn Mandah stated, “He died in Isfahan on the last day of Jumada al-Ula in the year 491 AH.”
