al-Ḥasan; Abū Manṣūr al-Qazzāz informed us; Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī, the ḥāfiẓ, informed us and said:
“Aḥmad ibn al-Qāsim al-Ḥusaynī wrote to me from Egypt, and Abū Naṣr ʿAlī ibn Hibat Allah related to me from him, saying: Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Azhar al-Samannāwī informed us; Aḥmad—namely, Ibn ʿĪsā al-Washshā—narrated to us; Mūsā ibn ʿĪsā at Ramla—a Baghdadi, d. 250 AH—narrated to us; Yazīd narrated to us, from Ḥumayd, from Anas, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When an orphan weeps, his tears fall into the Hand of the Most Merciful. He then says, ‘Who has made this orphan—whose parents I have laid beneath the earth—cry? Whoever quiets him shall obtain Paradise.’”
al-Khaṭīb (1) said: “This report is objectionable (munkar); its transmitters are known, apart from Mūsā.”
I say: He is the one who fabricated it. (2)
I was informed by Abū Muḥammad ibn al-Akhḍar and others, from Ibn Nāṣir, that Abū Naṣr the emir wrote to him. ḥāʾ.
