Abū Aḥmad ibn Abī Muslim al-Faradhi; Abū ʿUmar ibn Mahdī; Abū al-Qāsim ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad al-Khuzāʿī; and a number of other scholars in Khurasan and Iraq.
ʿAbd al-Ghafir al-Fārisi said: He set out on his journeys while still a youth, heard hadith from the disciples of Ibn Ṣāʿid and from al-Maḥāmilī, and narrated a great deal.
Abū Saʿd al-Samʿānī said: Zāhir and Wajīh, the two sons of al-Shahhāmī, related to us from him, as did Wahbat al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn al-Qushayrī and others.
He was trustworthy, devout, and prolific.
He died in 468 AH.
Aḥmad ibn Hibat Allāh told us; ʿAbd al-Muʿizz ibn Muḥammad informed us; Zāhir ibn Ṭāhir narrated to us; Abū Naṣr ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAlī informed us; Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn dictated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Sharqī told us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Bishr told us; ʿAbd al-Razzāq informed us; Ibn Jurayj informed us; Suhayl ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ related to me, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“After washing him, a full ritual bath is required; and after carrying him, ablution.”
Its isnād is acceptable (1), and the wording clearly indicates that the ruling is Sunnah; nevertheless, the hadith necessarily entails an implicit qualification.
