Al-Furani is vocalised with a damma on the fa, sukun on the waw, fath on the ra, followed by a nun; the nisba goes back to his grandfather Furan. In al-Mukhtasar the name is corrupted to al-Ghurani with a ghayn.
(2) Kashf al-Zunun incorrectly styles him “Abu Ishaq.”
(3) The nisba refers to Taysafun, a village two farsakhs from Marw (al-Ansab 8/291); Lisan al-Mizan alters it to al-Tasurati.
(4) See Hadiyyat al-Arifin 1/517.
(5) His biography will appear under no. (306).
