He passed away in the month of Ramadan, in the year three and sixty and four hundred (463 AH), at the age of ninety-six, and I have encountered his narrations only with a lower tier in the chain of transmission.
125 – Ibn Ḥīd, Bakr ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Nīshāpūrī
The most eminent musnid, known as “the Trustworthy Shaykh”: Abū Manṣūr Bakr ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥīd (1) al-Nīshāpūrī, the merchant.
He narrated in Hamadhān and Baghdad and travelled about in the course of trade.
He transmitted from Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Khaffāf, Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn al-ʿAlawī, Ibn ʿAbdūs, and Ibn Bāmūyah.
Shirawayh said, “I missed the chance to hear from him.”
Al-Samʿānī said, “Among those who reported from him were Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Bāqī al-Anṣārī, Saʿīd ibn Abī al-Rajāʾ, and Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAlī al-Ḥammāmī; my grandfather also heard from him, as did Abū Bakr al-Khaṭīb, and he praised him highly (2).”
He died in Ṣafar (3) of the year four (4) and sixty and four hundred—that is, 464 AH.
