This report has reached us through the Musnad of Aḥmad, so in this regard Ibn Ḥazm and I are on the same footing.
And with this same chain (2) — reaching Ibn Ḥazm concerning the books that al-Muʿtaḍid ibn ʿAbbād (3) had burned — he said:

its contents are lodged within my breast.
It travels with me whenever my mounts set out,
comes to rest when I dismount, and will be buried in my grave.
Spare me the torching of vellum and paper; instead speak with knowledge,
so that people may recognise the one who truly knows.
