He also heard ḥadith from Abū Muḥammad al-Aṣīlī, Abū Ḥafṣ ibn Nābil, Abū ʿUmar ibn Abī al-Ḥubāb, and a number of others.
He further possessed an ijāza from Abū al-Ḥasan al-Qābisī (1), and he held the offices of judge and Friday-preacher in Valencia.
Al-Ḥumaydī (2) mentions him, describing him as “a ḥadith scholar, man of letters, eloquent preacher, and poet.”
He died in Rabīʿ al-Ākhir, 456 AH (3).
I add: Abū ʿAlī al-Ghassānī and others took knowledge from him.
He was the maternal uncle of Abū al-Walīd al-Bājī. His father had travelled east, studied jurisprudence under Ibn Abī Zayd and al-Qābisī, and obtained ijāzas from both on behalf of his son. Abū Shākir later resided in Shāṭiba for a time, and he left behind polished verse (4).
