ibn Abī Saʿīd al-Muʿallim. He informed us: Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr informed us; al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad informed us; Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Sarrāj narrated to us; Qutaybah narrated to us; al-Layth narrated to us; ʿUqayl—from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from his father—reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he neither wrongs him nor reviles him. Whoever is occupied with his brother’s need, Allah will be occupied with his need. Whoever relieves a Muslim of a hardship, Allah will, by that deed, relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. And whoever conceals a Muslim’s faults, Allah will conceal his on the Day of Resurrection.”
It was recorded (1) by al-Bukhārī through Ibn Bukayr, and by Muslim through Qutaybah—both from al-Layth (2).
In that same year (3) there passed away: Abū Naṣr Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Bāqī ibn Ṭawq (4) in Mosul; Abū al-Qāsim al-Ḥinnāʾī (5) in Damascus; the musnid of Wāsiṭ, Judge Abū Tammām ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Muʿtazilī (6); Abū Muslim ibn Mihrabzudā (7); and the senior Mālikī jurist ʿAbd al-Jalīl ibn Makhlūf of Egypt, after reaching advanced age.
