ʿĀmir say: “The last sermon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered to us was when he prayed over the martyrs of Uḥud, then ascended the pulpit and said, ‘I will precede you to the Basin, and I will testify on your behalf. Even now, as I stand here, I can see my Basin. By Allah, I do not fear that you will fall into idolatry after I am gone; rather, I was shown that I have been given the keys to the treasures of the earth, and I fear that you will vie with one another for them.’ ”
Muslim records, through the narration of Jābir ibn Samurah, that the Prophet ﷺ said, “I will be your forerunner at the Basin. The distance between its two banks is like that between Ṣanʿāʾ and Aylah, and the pitchers upon it are as countless as the stars.”
Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ related, through Sulaym ibn ʿĀmir, from Abū Umāmah, that the Prophet ﷺ said, “On the Day of Resurrection Allah will admit seventy thousand of my community into Paradise without any reckoning.” A man asked, “Messenger of Allah, how wide is your Basin?” He replied, “From ʿAdan to ʿUmān—and even broader. Two channels, one of gold and one of silver, feed into it. Its drink is whiter than milk, sweeter than honey, and more fragrant than musk. Whoever drinks from it will never thirst again, and his face will never darken.” This is a ḥasan (fair) hadith.
Ibn Mājah transmits—through ʿAṭiyyah, who is weak—from Abū Saʿīd that the Prophet ﷺ said, “I have a Basin whose length stretches from the Kaʿbah to Jerusalem; it is whiter than milk, its vessels are as numerous as the stars, and I shall have the greatest following among the prophets on the Day of Resurrection.”
ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾib narrated, through Muḥārib ibn Dithār, from Ibn ʿUmar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Al-Kawthar is a river in Paradise. Its banks are of gold, its bed runs over pearls and rubies, its soil is more fragrant than musk, and it is whiter than snow.”
