ibn Faḍālah narrated to us, saying: al-Ḥasan ibn al-Faraj al-Ghazzī narrated to us; Yūsuf ibn ʿAdī narrated to us; Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, from Simāk, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said:
“I used to sell gold for silver and silver for gold. I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about it, and he said, ‘When you conclude a sale with your companion, do not part from him while anything remains outstanding between the two of you.’”
This is a ḥasan (sound), gharīb (singular) hadith; a similar version has been recorded in the Sunan collections (1) through the chain of Simāk.

He narrated from: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Bakkāʾī; Abū al-Faḍl Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Ḥuṭayṭ; Muḥammad ibn Zayd ibn Marwān; Abū al-Ṭayyib Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Taymulī; Abū al-Mufaḍḍal Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Shaybānī; Muḥammad ibn

Abi Hind related the same report from Sa‘id b. Jubayr from Ibn ‘Umar in a mawquf (companion-level) form.”
Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar adds in Talkhis al-Habir 3/26: al-Bayhaqi, via Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi, said: “Shu‘ba was asked about this report of Simak. He replied: ‘I heard Ayyub, from Nafi‘, from Ibn ‘Umar, and he did not raise it; and Qatada told us from Sa‘id b. al-Musayyib, from Ibn ‘Umar, and he did not raise it; and Yahya b. Abi Ishaq told us from Salim, from Ibn ‘Umar, and he did not raise it. Simak b. Harb, however, transmitted it to us as marfu‘, and I reject that.’”

فَضَالَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الحَسَنُ بنُ الفَرَجِ الغَزِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يُوْسُفُ بنُ عَدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ سَعِيْدِ بنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ:
كُنْتُ أَبِيعُ الذَّهَبَ بِالفِضَّةِ وَالفِضَّةَ بِالذَّهَبِ، فَأَتَيتُ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ، فَقَالَ: (إِذَا بَايَعْتَ صَاحِبَكَ، فَلاَ تُفَارِقْهُ وَبَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ شَيْءٌ) .
هَذَا حَدِيْثٌ حَسَنٌ، غَرِيْبٌ، خَرَّجُوا نَحْواً مِنْهُ فِي السُّنَنِ (١) مِنْ طَرِيقِ سِمَاكٍ.
٤٣٠ - العَلَوِيُّ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بنُ عَلِيِّ بنِ الحَسَنِ *
الإِمَامُ، المُحَدِّثُ، الثِّقَةُ، العَالِمُ، الفَقِيْهُ، مُسْنِدُ الكُوْفَةِ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بنُ عَلِيِّ بنِ الحَسَنِ بنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ العَلَوِيُّ، الكُوْفِيُّ.
انْتَقَى عَلَيْهِ الحَافِظُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الصُّوْرِيُّ، وَغَيْرُهُ.
حَدَّثَ عَنْ: عَلِيِّ بنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ البَكَّائِيِّ، وَأَبِي الفَضْلِ مُحَمَّدِ بنِ الحَسَنِ بنِ حُطَيْطٍ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بنِ زَيْدِ بنِ مَرْوَانَ، وَأَبِي الطَّيِّبِ مُحَمَّدِ بنِ الحُسَيْنِ التَّيْمُلِيِّ، وَأَبِي المُفَضَّلِ مُحَمَّدِ بنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بنِ

وقال الحافظ في " التلخيص " ٣ / ٢٦: وروى البيهقي من طريق أبي داود الطيالسي، قال: سئل شعبة عن حديث سماك هذا، فقال شعبة: سمعت أيوب، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، ولم يرفعه،
وحدثنا قتادة، عن سعيد بن المسيب، عن ابن عمر، ولم يرفعه، وحدثنا يحيى بن أبي إسحاق، عن سالم، عن ابن عمر، ولم يرفعه، ورفعه لنا سماك بن حرب، وأنا أفرقه.
