Ibn Saʿdān Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Salām al-Judhāmī *
The shaykh, eminent, reliable, and the chief transmitter of Damascus: Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Salām ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUbayd ibn Saʿdān al-Judhāmī, al-Zinbāʿī, their client, a Damascene.
He heard ḥadīth from Jumaḥ ibn al-Qāsim; Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn Munīr; Abū ʿUmar ibn Faḍālah; Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Rabʿī; Abū Sulaymān ibn Zabr; the judge Yūsuf ibn al-Qāsim al-Mayānajī; and others.
Among those who related from him were ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Kattānī; Ibn Abī al-ʿAlāʾ the jurist; Abū al-Fatḥ Naṣr ibn Ibrāhīm al-Maqdisī; Sahl ibn Bishr; Najāʾ the perfumer; Abū Ṭāhir Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Ḥinnāʾī; Abū al-Ḥasan ibn al-Mawāzīnī; and many more.
It is also said that ʿAbd al-Karīm ibn Ḥamzah al-Sulamī narrated from him, but that is a mistake; he probably possessed only an ijāzah from him.
Al-Kattānī said, “He owned six parts (of collected ḥadīth) or thereabouts.” He passed away on the Day of ʿArafah in 443 AH, may Allah have mercy on him.
Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī narrated to us, saying, “Jaʿfar al-Hamadhānī narrated to us, saying, ‘Abū Ṭāhir al-Silafī narrated to us (ḥ).’”
And Muḥammad ibn Abī al-ʿIzz narrated to us, saying, “Muḥammad ibn Hibat Allāh al-Fārisī narrated to us, saying, ‘Abū al-Barakāt al-Khiḍr ibn Shibl and Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥasan al-Ḥiṣnī narrated to us, saying:’”
Abū Ṭāhir Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn and ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Mawāzīnī narrated to us, saying:
“Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Salām ibn Saʿdān narrated to us, saying, ‘Abū ʿUmar ibn…’”
