Ibn al-Tuyūrī informed us; al-Ṣūrī recited to us some verses he had composed himself:
Say to the one who opposes the hadith and has set about
reviling its people and all who profess adherence to it:
Is it on the basis of knowledge that you speak—explain it to me—
or out of ignorance? Ignorance is the habit of the foolish.
Shall those be blamed who preserved the religion
from fabrications and deceit?
To their statements—and to what they have transmitted—
every scholar and jurist must ultimately return. (1)
Al-Khaṭīb (2) said: al-Ṣūrī died in Jumādā al-Ākhirah, 441 AH.
425 – Abū Kālījār Marzubān ibn Sulṭān al-Dawlah ibn Buwayh*
He was the sovereign, the ruler of Iraq: Abū Kālījār Marzubān ibn Sulṭān al-Dawlah ibn Bahāʾ al-Dawlah ibn ʿAḍud al-Dawlah ibn Buwayh. He succeeded his cousin Jalāl al-Dawlah and reigned for five years, during which he encountered many setbacks and wars. He lived a little over forty years, overpowered his cousin al-Malik al-ʿAzīz, and died in 440 AH in Kirmān. After his death they enthroned his son, al-Malik al-Raḥīm Abū Naṣr. With that, the Buwayhid dynasty came to an end and the Seljuq state arose.
