Abū Muḥammad al-Hasan ibn al-Ḥusayn (1) ibn al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥamdān al-Taghlibī.
He took charge of Damascus after the Commander of the Armies al-Dizbarī (2) in the year 433 AH, and remained in office until he was arrested in 440 AH; after him the governorship passed to Ṭāriq the Ṣaqlabī.
He was the father of the emir Nāṣir al-Dawla Ḥusayn, the one who humbled and subjugated al-Mustanṣir in Egypt—his exploits are well known—until he was killed sometime after 460 AH.

He studied under his tutor Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr al-Yashkurī and under Abū al-Azhar ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Kātib.
Al-Khaṭīb (3) said: “We took transmissions from him; he was devout, a keeper of the chronicles of the caliphs, well acquainted with people’s history, and a man of excellence.”
He died in Shaʿbān of the year 440 AH (4), at the age of ninety-seven.
