of good conduct in this world are the people of good conduct in the Hereafter, and the people of evil in this world are the people of evil in the Hereafter. (1)”

397 – Ibn Rīdhah, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad al-Isfahānī
The shaykh, scholar, man of letters, leader, and Musnid of the age: Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Isḥāq ibn Ziyād al-Isfahānī, known as al-Thānī (“the Second”), the merchant, and widely famed as Ibn Rīdhah.
He heard both of al-Ṭabarānī’s Muʿjams—the Major and the Minor—as well as al-Fitan by Nuʿaym ibn Ḥammād, all from Abū al-Qāsim al-Ṭabarānī; I do not think he took narration from anyone else.
He lived to a great age and stood unrivalled in his time.
He was born in 346 AH.
An untold multitude transmitted from him; among them were Abū al-ʿAlāʾ Muḥammad ibn al-Faḍl al-Kāghadī, his brother Abū Bakr, Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAzīzah, al-Ṣadr Muḥammad ibn Jahārbukhtān, Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Faraj al-Mulḥamī, and Muḥammad ibn Mardawayh al-Ṣabbāgh.
