Ismāʿīl b. Muḥammad al-Taymī, compiler of Al-Targhīb wa-l-Tarhīb.
He passed away in Rabīʿ al-Awwal of the year 425 AH, having reached the age of ninety, may Allah have mercy on him.
We read this report to Isḥāq b. Ṭāriq; he related it to us, as did Ibn Khalīl, and it was likewise transmitted by Masʿūd al-Jammāl (ḥ). Aḥmad b. Salāmah also informed me—from Masʿūd—that Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥaddād narrated to us, saying: Abū Bakr Muḥammad b. ʿAlī al-Qurashī told us in 424 AH; he said: ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaʿfar b. Aḥmad narrated to us; he said: my father narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad b. al-ʿAlāʾ narrated to us; he said: Muʿāwiyah b. Hishām narrated to us, from Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt, from ʿAdī b. Thābit, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah says, ‘Son of Adam, remember Me within yourself and I will remember you within Myself; remember Me in an assembly of people and I will remember you in an assembly better than theirs.’”
Muʿāwiyah alone transmitted this (1).
