Humayd al-Tawil said: Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Muzani related to us, from Ḥamzah ibn al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah, from his father, who said: “I stayed behind with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When he had relieved himself, I brought him a water vessel. He washed his hands and face, then tried to roll up his sleeves, but the sleeves of the jubba were too tight. So he slipped his hands out from beneath it, cast the jubba over his shoulders, washed his forearms, then wiped the front of his head and over his turban. After that he mounted, and we mounted.”
Another wording states: “He was wearing a Syrian jubba with narrow sleeves,” and yet another: “He was wearing a woolen jubba.”
Ayyūb narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Ibn ʿUmar: “I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was wearing a rustling waist-wrapper (izār).”
ʿIkrimah said: “When Ibn ʿAbbās tied his waist-wrapper, he would let the front hang so that its hem rested on the backs of his feet and raise it from behind, saying, ‘I saw the Prophet ﷺ wear his waist-wrapper like this.’”
Ibn ʿAbbās also said: “I saw the Prophet ﷺ tie his waist-wrapper below his navel so that his navel was visible, and I saw ʿUmar tie his above the navel. The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘A believer’s waist-wrapper should reach midway down his calves.’”
Ishāq ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Nawfal reported that the Prophet ﷺ purchased a suit for 27 uqiyyahs.
Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn reported that the Prophet ﷺ bought a suit for 29 camels. Both reports are weak because their chains are mursal.
Abū Dāwūd said: ʿAmr ibn ʿAwn narrated to us, ʿImārah ibn Zādhān informed us, from Thābit, from Anas, that the king of Dhū Yazan sent to the Messenger of Allah
