194 – al-ʿĪsawī ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Aḥmad
The Imām, erudite scholar, judge, and reliable transmitter, Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Aḥmad al-Hāshimī, the ʿAbbāsid, known as al-ʿĪsawī, was a descendant of the heir-apparent ʿĪsā (1) ibn Mūsā, the cousin of the caliph al-Manṣūr.
He heard hadith from Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn al-Bakhtarī, Abū ʿAmr ibn al-Sammāk, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn al-Wāthiq, and Mūsā the son of the judge Ismāʿīl—this Mūsā related from his father, Ismāʿīl ibn Isḥāq.
Those who transmitted from him include al-Khaṭīb, Abū Bakr al-Bayhaqī, Ṭirād al-Zaynabī, and others.
Two fascicles of his narrations have come into my possession.
Al-Khaṭīb (2) said: “We wrote down hadith from him; he was trustworthy. He held the judgeship of Madīnat al-Manṣūr and died in Rajab 415 AH.”
