Chapter: His ﷺ Clothing
Khalid ibn Yazid reported: ʿĀṣim ibn Sulaymān told us, from Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he used to wear white skullcaps, fastened ones, and those provided with ear-flaps. ʿĀṣim was a Basran transmitter who is accused of fabrication.
Jābir related that the Prophet ﷺ possessed a black turban which he would wear on the two festival days, letting its end drape down his back. Ḥātim ibn Ismāʿīl alone transmitted it from Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-ʿArzamī, from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir.
Wakīʿ narrated, on the authority of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ghasīl, from ʿIkrima, from Ibn ʿAbbās, that the Prophet ﷺ addressed the people wearing a dark head-band. This is an authentic report.
Rukāna related that he wrestled with the Prophet ﷺ and the Prophet overpowered him. Rukāna added: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “The point that distinguishes us from the idolaters is the turban worn over the skullcap.” Abū Dāwūd recorded this tradition.
ʿUrwa narrated from ʿĀʾisha that the Prophet ﷺ had a white cap.
Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh reported that on the Day of the Conquest the Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca wearing a black turban. All of its transmitters are reliable.
