ʿAbd al-Ghanī ibn Saʿīd says in his book al-ʿIlm—comprising two fascicles—: “Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Bayyāʿ informed us, in the volume he composed at Nīshāpūr, saying: al-Aṣamm narrated to us …,” and he then quoted: ḥaddathanā.
165 – Abū al-Faḍl al-Tamīmī ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz
The imām, jurist, and head of the Ḥanbalīs: Abū al-Faḍl ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn al-Ḥārith al-Tamīmī, the Baghdādī Ḥanbalī.
He narrated from his father, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Isḥāq al-Khurāsānī, Abū Bakr al-Najjād, Aḥmad ibn Kāmil, and others.
Those who transmitted from him include al-Khaṭīb, Rizq Allāh al-Tamīmī—his nephew—, ʿUmar ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUmar the Qurʾān-reciter, and a group besides.
Al-Khaṭīb said: “He was truthful. He was buried next to the grave of Imām Aḥmad, and my father—who attended his funeral—told me that nearly fifty thousand people offered the funeral prayer over him (1).”
I say: He was a close friend of the judge Abū Bakr ibn al-Bāqillānī (2) and maintained cordial relations with him.
He died in 410 AH.
