Al-Barqānī said, “When al-Dāraquṭnī returned from Egypt I asked him, ‘Did you meet anyone on your journey who truly understands knowledge?’ He answered, ‘Throughout the entire route I saw no one except a young man in Egypt named ʿAbd al-Ghanī; he was like a blazing flame,’ and then he proceeded to exalt his standing and raise his renown.” (1)
Abū al-Fatḥ Manṣūr ibn ʿAlī al-Ṭarsūsī said, “When Abū al-Ḥasan al-Dāraquṭnī resolved to leave us and depart from Egypt, we went out with him to bid him farewell. ʿAbd al-Ghanī also composed a fascicle in which he pointed out the errors in the book ‘Al-Madkhal ilā al-Ṣaḥīḥ.’
