so they began piling some of their luggage on me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by and said, “You are a pack-camel!”
Hashraj ibn Nabatah narrated from Saʿīd ibn Jumḥān: I heard Safīnah say, “The people’s baggage became too heavy for them, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Spread out your cloak.’ They placed their belongings in it, and he then said, ‘Carry it, for you are Safīnah (Ship).’ From that day on, had I been made to carry the load of one camel, or two, or three—indeed up to seven—it would not have weighed me down. This counts among his miracles.
ʿAlī ibn ʿĀṣim and Khālid ibn ʿAbd Allāh reported—through Ḥumayd—from Anas: A Bedouin asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a mount. He said, “I will seat you upon the child of a she-camel.” The man replied, “What am I to do with the child of a she-camel, Messenger of Allah?” He answered, “Do camels give birth to anything other than she-camels?” This report is sound, though singular in its chain.
Al-Anṣārī narrated—through Ḥumayd—from Anas: There was a son of Umm Sulaym called Abū ʿUmayr; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to joke with him… (the ḥadith continues).
Shurayk narrated from ʿĀṣim, from Anas that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, “O two-eared one!”
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr narrated from Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥāṭib that ʿĀʾishah said: “I brought the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a dish of khazīrah I had prepared. With the Prophet sitting between us, I said to Sawdah, ‘Eat,’ but she refused. I said, ‘Either you eat or I will smear your face with it,’ and she still refused. So I dipped my hand into the dish, smeared it, and wiped it over her face. The Prophet laughed. ʿUmar passed by and called out, ‘Servant of Allah! Servant of Allah!’ The Prophet assumed ʿUmar was about to come in, so he said, ‘Stand up, both of you, and wash your faces.’ Ever since that day I have felt awe of ʿUmar because of the reverence the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) showed toward him.”
