Section: His Striving and Worship ﷺ
Ibn ʿUyaynah related—through Ziyād ibn ʿIlāqah—from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood in prayer until his feet became swollen. Someone said to him, “Messenger of Allah, has not Allah already forgiven your past and future sins?” He replied, “Should I not, then, be a grateful servant?” Agreed upon.
Manṣūr narrated—through Ibrāhīm—from ʿAlqamah:
I asked ʿĀʾishah, “How was the worship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Did he single out particular days?” She answered, “No. His practice was continuous, and which of you could endure what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was able to endure?” Agreed upon.
Maʿmar reported—from Hammām—that Abū Hurayrah said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared, “Beware of wisāl”—fasting continuously without breaking the fast. They said, “Yet you yourself practice wisāl, Messenger of Allah.” He replied, “I am not like you; during the night my Lord feeds me and gives me drink. So undertake only such deeds as you are able to bear.”
A narration with the same meaning is recorded in the Ṣaḥīḥ collections from Ibn ʿUmar, ʿĀʾishah, and Anas.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr transmitted—through Abū Salamah—from Abū Hurayrah:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I ask Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him one hundred times every day.” This is a sound (ḥasan) hadith.
