ʿAbbād ibn al-ʿAwwām narrated: Mūsā ibn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm at-Taymī told me, from his father, that a man once said, “O Messenger of Allah, how eloquent you are! I have never seen anyone whose speech is purer than yours.” He replied, “That is only fitting, for the Quran has been sent down in clear Arabic.”
Hushaym reported—from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Isḥāq al-Qurashī, from Abū Burdah, from Abū Mūsā—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I have been granted the openings of speech, its conclusions, and its concise, all-encompassing expressions.” We said, “Teach us some of what Allah has taught you,” so he taught us the tashahhud recited in prayer.
