Ibrāhīm ibn Zūlāq al-Miṣrī, the author of numerous works.
His birth: in Shaʿbān of the year 306 AH.
He heard ḥadith from Abū Jaʿfar al-Ṭaḥāwī and those after him. He travelled to Damascus, yet Ibn ʿAsākir failed to record him in his History; he had reached the city in 330 AH, and I have not obtained as full an account of his life as I would wish.
He died in Dhū al-Qaʿdah of 386 AH, at the age of eighty.
Another report states that he died in 387 AH.
His full name is Ḥasan ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Khalaf ibn Zūlāq al-Laythī (1), a client of the Layth clan, from Egypt—may Allah have mercy on him.
His paternal great-grandfather was among the leading scholars.
Ibn Khallikān said: “Abū Muḥammad died on the twenty-fifth of Dhū al-Qaʿdah in the year seven (2).”
336 – al-Rayḥānī, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn ibn Aḥmad al-Baṣrī *
Al-Rayḥānī later settled in Baghdad.
He related ḥadith from al-Baghawī and Ibn Ṣāʿid.
Among those who transmitted from him are al-Khallāl, al-ʿAtīqī, and Abū Ṭālib al-ʿUshārī.
Al-ʿAtīqī said: “An unlettered shaykh; his principal narrations are sound.” He passed away in 387 AH.
