al-Ḥusayn ibn Mukram, al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbbād, Aḥmad ibn Yaʿqūb al-Mattūthī, ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Faḍl, Khālid ibn al-Naḍr, and a number of others.
The ḥadith master Ḥamzah al-Sahmī asked him about various transmitters, probing their reliability and their possible leniency.
I have not found a separate biography for him.
Those who reported from him include Abū al-Ḥasan ibn Ṣakhr, Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah al-Khuzāʿī, and several others. He lived on until the year 380 AH.
I read aloud to Abū Bakr ibn ʿUmar the grammarian—al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad al-Zāhid informed you; Abū Ṭāhir ibn Silfah informed us; Abū Ṭāhir Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad dictated to us in Basra; Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah ibn al-Mughīrah narrated to us; al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī the ḥāfiẓ narrated to us; Aḥmad ibn Yaʿqūb al-Mattūthī narrated to us; Bundār narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us; Sufyān narrated from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār, from Ibn ʿUmar:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the sale of walāʾ (the bond of allegiance created by manumission) and its transfer as a gift.”
Al-Bukhārī also recorded it (1) through Abū Nuʿaym, from al-Thawrī, so our chain is one tier lower.
