He heard from: al-Ḥasan ibn Sufyān, Ibn Khuzaymah, and Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Thaqafī.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Qaṣṣār narrated from him, declared him reliable, and said: “He told me, ‘I was born in the year 281 AH.’”
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Abū Masʿūd al-Dimashqī said: “I heard Abū ʿAmr ibn Ḥamdān al-Ḥīrī—when he was asked about Abū Bakr ibn Shīrawayh who transmits in Fasā—reply: ‘We never heard the Musnad of al-Ḥasan ibn Sufyān until his father arrived with it; he weighed out one hundred dinars for al-Ḥasan, and we heard it along with him.’”
Ibn Nuqṭah and others stated: “He died in 380 AH at the age of ninety-nine.”
I say: the people of that region let him slip away and failed to profit from his elevated isnād.
