Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah said: Ismāʿīl ibn Umayyah related to us, through Muzāḥim ibn Abī Muzāḥim, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Khālid ibn Asīd, from Maḥrash al-Kuʿbī, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ʿumrah from al-Jiʿrānah at night. I looked at his back and it was like a bar of pure silver.”
Yaʿqūb al-Fasawī said: Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-ʿAlāʾ informed us; ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith told me; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim told me, from al-Zubaydī, who said: Muḥammad ibn Muslim related to me, from Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib, that he heard Abū Hurayrah describing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: “He was exceedingly fair-skinned.”
Rashdīn ibn Saʿd narrated from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, from Abū Yūnus—the freedman of Abū Hurayrah—from Abū Hurayrah, who said: “I have never seen anything more beautiful than the Prophet ﷺ; it was as though the sun coursed across his face. And I have never seen anyone walk faster than he did; it was as though the earth were folded up for him. We would exert ourselves, while he moved on untroubled.” Ibn Lahīʿah also transmitted this through Abū Yūnus.
Shuʿbah narrated from Simāk, from Jābir ibn Samurah: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a wide mouth, eyes touched with a dark hue, and ankles with little flesh.” Muslim recorded it.
Abū Dāwūd likewise transmitted it from Shuʿbah but with the wording: “light-tinted eyes and slender heels.”
Abū ʿUbayd explained: “ash-shaklah is a reddish tinge that appears in the white of the eye, while ash-shahlah is a redness within the iris.” I add: “manhūs al-kaʿb” (slender-ankled) means having little flesh around the anklebones.
