al-Qaʿnabī, and he in turn related to us; Salamah ibn Wardān said, “I heard Anas ibn Mālik report from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said, ‘Ayat al-Kursi is one-quarter of the Qur’an.’(1)”
This ḥadith was also granted to us by way of authorization through Aḥmad ibn Salamah, on the authority of al-Jammāl.

Among those from whom he heard were: Aḥmad ibn Ḥammād Zugbah; Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān ibn Saʿīd al-Sarrāj; Muḥammad ibn Ruzayq ibn Jāmiʿ al-Madīnī; Abū al-Raqrāq Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Muʿallim; Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Nasāʾī—from whom he transmitted extensively; ʿAlī ibn Saʿīd ibn Bashīr al-Rāzī; Abū Dujānah Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Maʿāfirī; al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Muḥammad al-Janadī; and ʿAbd
(1) Its chain of transmission is weak because of the unreliability of Salama b. Wardan. Al-Suyuti mentions the report in al-Jamiʿ al-Saghir, attributing it to Abu Shaykh in al-Thawab. Ahmad (3:221) also transmits it through the route of ʿAbd Allah b. al-Harith—from Salama b. Wardan—from Anas: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked one of his Companions, “So-and-so, are you married?” He replied, “No, and I have nothing with which to marry.” The Prophet said, “Is not ‘Qul huwa Allahu ahad’ with you?” He answered, “Indeed.” The Prophet said, “It equals one quarter of the Qurʾan.” He then asked, “Is not ‘Qul ya ayyuhu al-kafirun’ with you?” “Indeed.” “One quarter of the Qurʾan.” “Is not ‘Idha zulzilati al-ard’ with you?” “Indeed.” “One quarter of the Qurʾan.” “Is not ‘Idha jaʾa nasr Allah’ with you?” “Indeed.” “One quarter of the Qurʾan.” “Is not the Throne Verse—‘Allahu la ilaha illa huwa’—with you?” “Indeed.” “One quarter of the Qurʾan.” He then repeated three times: “Marry, marry, marry.” The isnad remains weak, just like the previous one.
