there were rare reports and valuable observations; our own teachers narrated from him. He died in Qazwīn in 348 AH.
167 – At-Tinnīsī, Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Ḥasan
The shaykh, imām, ḥāfiẓ, and reliable authority, Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Ḥasan al-Miṣrī al-Naqqāsh, the ḥadith scholar of Tinnīs.
He was born in 282 AH.
He heard ḥadith from: Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar al-Imām, who had settled in Dumyāṭ; Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān an-Nasāʾī; Muḥammad ibn Jarīr aṭ-Ṭabarī; Abū Yaʿqūb al-Manjiniqī; ʿUmar ibn Abī Ghaylān; ʿAbdān al-Jawālīqī; Abū Yaʿlā al-Mawṣilī; al-Qāsim ibn al-Layth ar-Rasʿanī; Jumāhir ibn Muḥammad az-Zamalkānī; and others of their rank.
Al-Dāraquṭnī travelled to study with him, yet because he lived in seclusion in Tinnīs his narrations did not become widely circulated.
Among those who narrated from him were: al-Ḥusayn ibn Jaʿfar al-Killalī; Yaḥyā ibn ʿAlī ibn aṭ-Ṭaḥḥān; Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAlī al-Ghāzī; al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUmar ibn Jamāʿa al-Iskandarānī; the judge ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn Jābir at-Tinnīsī; and many others.
He is the transmitter of Fulayḥ’s collection, which we have received through the pupils of Abū al-Ḥasan as-Sakhāwī.
Indeed, among his senior teachers were al-Ḥasan ibn al-Faraj al-Ghazzī, Abū al-ʿAlāʾ al-Wakīʿī, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Isḥāq al-Madāʾinī.
Muḥammad ibn Muẓaffar as-Saqatī informed us, saying: as-Sakhāwī informed us, saying: as-Silafī informed us
