He died in Shaʿbān of the year 362 AH, at the age of sixty-seven. His sons—ʿAlī, Aḥmad, Yaḥyā, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and Muḥammad—outlived him and transmitted ḥadīth.
119 – Ibn Barzah: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Rudhrawarī*
A remarkably long-lived ḥadīth authority, Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Barzah al-Rudhrawarī (1) al-Dāwūdī taught in Hamadhān, relating from Ismāʿīl al-Qāḍī, Muḥammad ibn Ghālib Tamtām, ʿUbayd ibn Sharīk, Ibrāhīm ibn Dizīl, and others.
Ṣāliḥ ibn Aḥmad al-Ḥāfiẓ said, “Nothing reliable is established about Ibn Dizīl. I attended his gathering but did not think well of his state.”
I say: Among those who narrated from him were Abū Bakr ibn Lāl, Abū Ṭāhir ibn Salamah, Ibn Fanjawayh, ʿAlī ibn Jahḍam the Sūfī, Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Imām, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Shubānah, and others.
He was still teaching ḥadīth in 357 AH.
