62 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; he said: Bahr al-Siqāʾ informed me, from ʿImrān al-Qaṣīr, from Abū Saʿīd al-Iskandarānī, who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “Gathering together is a blessing, tharīd (bread soaked in meat broth) is a blessing, and the suḥūr (pre-dawn meal) is a blessing. Partake in suḥūr, for it increases one’s strength. Take suḥūr even if it is no more than a single sip of water. May Allah send His blessings upon those who partake in suḥūr.”
