34 – ʿAli ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to me; he said: Yazid ibn ʿIyad ibn Juʿdaba informed me; he said: Bukayr ibn Mismar narrated to us, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Khirash, from Abu Hurayrah, who said:

Kaʿb—may Allah have mercy on them both—said, “Will you not tell me what you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about this month,” meaning Ramadan? Abu Hurayrah replied, “And you—will you inform me how you find it in the Book of Allah?” Kaʿb answered, “O Abu Hurayrah, you speak first.” Abu Hurayrah then said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘Whoever fasts it and spends its nights in prayer out of faith and seeking reward, Allah will forgive him.’” Kaʿb responded, “Allah has spoken the truth; in the Book of Allah it is indeed a remission.”
