32 – Hārūn ibn ʿUmar al-Qurashī narrated to us; Anas ibn ʿIyāḍ narrated to us; he said: Bukayr ibn Mismār told me, from Khirāsh al-Kaʿbī, who said:
Abū Hurayrah and Kaʿb al-Aḥbār met, and Abū Hurayrah asked, “O Kaʿb, how do you find this month—meaning Ramadan—in the Book of Allah?”
Kaʿb replied, “I will not tell you until you inform me of what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said about it.”
Abū Hurayrah said, “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘No one spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer and fasts its days with faith and in hope of reward except that he is forgiven.’”
Kaʿb exclaimed, “By Him in whose hand is my soul, it is described in the Book of Allah as a hittah (a complete wiping away of sins).”
