19 – Al-Naḍr ibn Ṭāhir al-Baṣrī related to us; he said: Salām ibn Sulaym—who is not Abū al-Aḥwaṣ—narrated to us, from Fiṭr ibn Khalīfah, from ʿĀmir ibn Wāthilah, who said that Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq stated: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“Allah, Majestic and Exalted, has fashioned gardens made entirely of red ruby; their foundations and upper chambers are lattice-worked with gold. Curtains of sundus (fine silk) and istabrq (thick brocade) hang over them. Each garden is a hundred years in length and a hundred years in width. Within every garden there are one hundred thousand palaces, and in every palace is a white pavilion whose dome is green emerald. Rivers course through its walls, and trees lean low over it.
The owner of this garden will taste bliss without knowing sorrow; he will abide forever without dying; his clothes will never wear out, and his youth will never fade.”
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then added, “Those gardens have been built for anyone who fasts the month of Ramadan; Allah will bestow them upon their people on the Day of Fitr.”
