you place your foot on its neck, raise its head, and slaughter it. (1)
Should it be slaughtered on the easier side, or on the other side? On the easier side. Here, “easier” is a comparative term; it does not mean the left side. Rather, what is meant is whichever side is easier. Thus, for a person who slaughters with his right hand, it is easier for the animal to be positioned on its left side; while for one who slaughters with his left hand, it is easier for it to be positioned on its right side.
They also said that it is disliked to slaughter an animal while another animal is watching, for this undoubtedly frightens it.

تطأ برجلك على عنقها، وترفع رأسها وتذبحها (١).
وهل تذبح على الأيمن، أو على الأيسر؟ على الأيسر، والأيسر اسم تفضيل، وليس المراد على الجنب الأيسر، وإنما المراد الأسهل، فالإنسان الذي يذبح باليمنى، الأيسر أن تكون هي على الأيسر، والذي يذبح باليسرى، الأيسر أن تكون هي على الأيمن.
وقالوا أيضاً: إنه يكره أن يذبحها والأخرى تنظر؛ لأن هذا يروعها بلا شك.
