the month, then she would have thirty days remaining, because the beginning of the postnatal period is reckoned from the first child.
But if it is assumed that she gave birth to the first child at the beginning of the month, and gave birth to the second on the twelfth of the second month, then there is no postnatal bleeding for the second child, because the postnatal period is reckoned from the first child and the forty days have ended. According to the madhhab, postnatal bleeding cannot exceed forty days, because the pregnancy is one and the postnatal period is one, even if the children carried are multiple.
The stronger view is that if bleeding begins anew for the second child, she remains in her postnatal period, even if it begins from the second child. For how can it be said that it is nothing, when she has given birth and bleeding has come to her?!
