If someone were to ask: How do you reconcile this condition with Allah’s statement concerning Moses, when the man of Midian said to him: “Indeed, I wish to marry one of these two daughters of mine to you, on condition that you hire yourself to me for eight years” [Quran 28:27]?
The answer is that there is no contradiction between this and the verse. The man did not say, “I have married you to one of my daughters”; rather, he said, “I wish to marry one of these two daughters of mine to you.” This is not a marriage contract, but merely a statement of intention—meaning: choose whichever of them you wish, and I will marry her to you.
Moreover, even if an explicit contradiction were supposed, and our Sacred Law had come with something contrary to it, what counts is what is found in our Sacred Law. For our Sacred Law has abrogated all other laws, and it is therefore not to be opposed by the law of those before us.
