Al-Sharḥ al-MumtiʿIbn al-'Uthaymin

However, the position of the madhhab on this matter is sounder.

It is understood from his statement, “the one performing tamattuʿ,” that the one performing ifrad and the one performing qiran do not stop reciting the talbiyah. So when do they stop?

The answer is: when they stone the Jamrat al-ʿAqabah on the Day of Eid, for it is authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, “that he continued reciting the talbiyah until he stoned the Jamrat al-ʿAqabah” (1). Moreover, by stoning the Jamrat al-ʿAqabah, he begins the acts through which release from consecration is attained—namely, the stoning.

(1) Narrated by al-Bukhari in Kitab al-Hajj, chapter: “Riding and sharing a mount during Hajj” (1543, 1544); and by Muslim in Kitab al-Hajj, chapter: “The recommendation that the pilgrim continue the talbiyah until he begins stoning Jamrat al-Aqabah” (1281).
