enter the Mosque through the Gate of Banu Shaybah (1).
The Gate of Banu Shaybah has now been effaced by time, and no trace of it remains. However, we did see a curved archway in a place near the Station of Abraham, and it is said that this was the Gate of Banu Shaybah. Whoever entered through the Gate of Peace and proceeded toward the Kaaba would pass through this gate. Is entering through the Gate of Banu Shaybah—were it to exist or be restored—an independently intended sunnah, or was it something that occurred incidentally?
The answer is the same as that given regarding entering Mecca.
His statement, “When he sees the House, he should raise his hands and say the supplication that has been narrated,” means: when he sees the Kaaba, as Allah, the Exalted, says:
“And when Abraham and Ishmael raised the foundations of the House…” [al-Baqarah 2:127]
Thus, when he sees the Kaaba, he should stand, raise his hands, and supplicate with the reported supplication. However, the hadiths narrated concerning raising the hands and making this supplication are open to criticism, and most of them are weak (2).
