in the talbiyah, saying: “Here I am for umrah and Hajj,” because this is how the Prophet’s, peace and blessings be upon him, talbiyah was (1), and because the umrah precedes the Hajj.
The second is to enter ihram for umrah alone, then incorporate Hajj into it before beginning the tawaf.
The third is to enter ihram for Hajj first, then incorporate umrah into it. There is a difference of opinion among the scholars regarding this form, which we shall mention, Allah willing.
The evidence for the first form is that Gabriel, peace be upon him, came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: “Pray in this blessed valley and say: ‘Umrah as part of a Hajj,’” or, he said: “‘Umrah and Hajj.’” (2) There is some discussion concerning this line of reasoning, which will come later. More explicit than it, however, is the hadith of Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: “Among us were those who entered ihram for umrah, those who entered ihram for Hajj, and those who entered ihram for Hajj and umrah.” (3)
The evidence for the second form is what happened to Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her: when she entered ihram for umrah and menstruated at Sarif, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed her to enter ihram for Hajj. (4) His instructing her to enter ihram for Hajj did not invalidate her umrah, as evidenced by his saying: “Your tawaf of the House and your saʿy between Safa and Marwah will suffice for your umrah and Hajj.” (5) This proves that she did not invalidate the umrah, for had she invalidated the umrah
