Thus, wearing a ring on the right hand is permissible. The correct view is that it is sunnah to wear it on either the right or the left hand (1).
Some scholars have said: If the Name of Allah is engraved upon it, it should not be worn on the left hand, out of reverence for the Name of Allah, and because one needs the left hand when cleansing oneself after relieving oneself, whether with water or dry materials. In that case, one must either go to the trouble of removing the ring, or cleanse oneself while wearing it, which entails a degree of disrespect.
It may also be inferred from this issue that wearing a watch on the right hand is no better than wearing it on the left, for a watch is very much like a ring. Thus, there is no difference between wearing a watch on the right or the left hand. Yet there is no doubt that wearing it on the left hand is easier for a person, both when winding it and when looking at it. Moreover, it is generally safer there, since the right hand moves more and is therefore more liable to damage.
This matter is broad in scope. Therefore, it should not be said that the sunnah is to wear it on the right hand, since the sunnah concerning a ring has been reported for both the right and left hands, and a watch is the thing most analogous to it.
Fourth: Where should the stone of one’s ring be placed: on the outside of the hand or on the palm side?
