As its circulation among people became widespread through recordings and notes, the two distinguished shaykhs, Dr. Sulayman ibn ‘Abdullah Aba al-Khayl and Dr. Khalid ibn ‘Ali al-Mushayqih, undertook to publish it in a book entitled al-Sharh al-Mumti‘ ‘ala Zad al-Mustaqni‘ (The Enjoyable Commentary on Zad al-Mustaqni‘). They authenticated its hadiths, numbered its Quranic verses, added such annotations as they deemed appropriate, and issued its first edition. May Allah reward them well.
Since a commentary delivered orally is not equal to one carefully composed in writing—in terms of selecting words, refining expression, and treating a subject comprehensively—it became clear that the book needed to be reviewed, revised, and reorganized. This has indeed been done, praise be to Allah: we removed what was unnecessary, added what was needed, and left the remainder as it was.
Among the first to read it back to us in this edition was Dr. Khalid ibn ‘Ali al-Mushayqih. May Allah reward him well.
I ask Allah to make our work sincere for His sake, in accordance with what pleases Him, and to benefit His servants through it. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, Ever-Near. May Allah bestow prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his Companions, and those who follow them faithfully.
