Along with Witr after the Isha prayer in Ramadan ...........
His statement, “along with Witr,” means that they perform the Witr prayer along with it.
The evidence is that the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, led the Companions in prayer on the twenty-third, twenty-fifth, and twenty-seventh nights: on the first night, for one third of the night; on the second, for half the night; and on the third, until shortly before dawn. When they said to him, “If only you would lead us in voluntary prayer for the rest of our night,” he said: “Whoever stands in prayer with the imam until he finishes, will be recorded as having stood the entire night in prayer.” (1)
This indicates that he performed Witr; therefore, Witr should be performed in congregation along with the Tarawih prayer.
His statement, “after Isha,” means after the Isha prayer. Thus, if they pray Tarawih between Maghrib and Isha, they have not fulfilled the sunnah. Likewise, it should be prayed after Isha and its regular sunnah prayer: once they have prayed Isha, they pray the sunnah prayer, then Tarawih, and then Witr.
His statement, “in Ramadan,” is because Tarawih outside Ramadan is an innovation. If people wished to gather in the mosques to perform the night prayer in congregation outside Ramadan, this would be among the innovations.
There is no harm, however, in a person occasionally praying in congregation at home outside Ramadan, based on the practice of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him: he once prayed in congregation at home with Ibn Abbas (2), on another occasion with Ibn Masud (3), and on another with Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (4), but he did not
