and has prayed the Friday prayer, intending to depart, and wishes to combine Asr with Friday prayer, this is not permissible, because it is an independent prayer of a different kind.
Some scholars also justified this by saying that the imam offers a general supplication in the Friday sermon, to which the people say Amin. Thus, he supplicates for the calamity to be lifted during the Friday sermon, and this supplication suffices in place of qunut in the Friday prayer.
Some scholars hold that there is no basis for making this exception. The reason Friday prayer was not explicitly mentioned in the hadiths reported from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is that it occurs only once a week and was therefore omitted. This is supported by the fact that when the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned the obligatory prayer, he mentioned only the five daily prayers, because these are the regular prayers that come upon a person every day, unlike Friday prayer.
Thus, the apparent view is that qunut is performed even in the Friday prayer.
If we hold that qunut is performed in the five prayers, then it is well known that it is recited aloud in the audible prayers. It is also recited aloud in the silent prayers, as established by the sunnah: he would perform qunut while the people behind him said Amin. (1) They could not say Amin unless he recited aloud.
Accordingly, it is recommended to recite aloud even in the silent prayer.
