have graded it authentic, while others have judged it weak. At the very least, it is sound, since the scholars accepted it and cited it as evidence.
- Another reason is that one may fear there is some creature dwelling in this burrow, so that he disturbs its home; or that it may emerge while he is urinating and harm him. He may then rise hurriedly and not escape being splashed by urine.
Historians have mentioned that Sa‘d ibn ‘Ubadah, the chief of the Khazraj—may Allah be pleased with him—urinated in a burrow in Syria. No sooner had he finished urinating than he fell down dead. Then they heard an unseen caller crying out in Madinah:
We killed Sa‘d ibn ‘Ubadah,
the chief of the Khazraj;
and shot him with two arrows—
neither missed his heart. (1)

It was also narrated by al-Asmai: Salamah ibn Bilal narrated to us from Abu Raja. It was likewise narrated by Abd al-Ala ibn Mushir.
All of these are mursal reports. When a mursal report is transmitted through another route whose point of origin differs from that of the first, it is thereby strengthened, as maintained by the verifying scholars.
