One must be able to eat it, both legally and physically.
The evidence for this is the Prophet’s saying: “No prayer is to be performed when food is present, nor when one is resisting the two urges.” (1)
The author’s words indicate that prayer in this state is disliked, because the Messenger ﷺ said: “No prayer …” But does this negation refer to the negation of completeness or to the negation of validity?
The answer is that the majority of scholars hold that it is a negation of completeness: it is disliked for one to pray in this state, but if he does pray, his prayer is valid. (2)
Some scholars, however, say that the negation is one of validity. (3) Thus, if a person prays while resisting the two urges to the extent that he does not know what he is saying, his prayer is invalid. This is because the basic principle concerning a negation in the sacred law is that it negates validity. Accordingly, praying in this state would be prohibited, for every invalid act of worship is prohibited to undertake, since doing so resembles mockery: he has undertaken an act of worship while knowing that it is forbidden.
Each of the two opinions is very strong.

The reason for this is that it has not been reported from the Prophet ﷺ. The one who repeats al-Fatihah
