will descend at the white minaret to the east of Damascus. No disbeliever who catches the scent of his breath will remain alive; his breath will reach as far as his sight reaches—this being one of Allah’s signs. He will pursue the Dajjal and catch him at the Gate of Ludd in Palestine, where he will kill him (1), thereby putting an end to him once and for all. Jesus, peace be upon him, will accept nothing but Islam: he will not accept the jizyah tax; he will break the cross, kill the swine, and pour out the wine (2), so that none will be worshipped but Allah.
Accordingly, the jizyah which Islam imposed has a fixed term set by Islam itself, ending with the descent of Jesus. It should not be said that this is legislation from Jesus, for the Messenger ﷺ informed us of it and affirmed it. Thus, the abolition of the jizyah upon the descent of Jesus is part of the Messenger’s sunnah, because the Messenger’s sunnah consists of his statements, actions, and approvals. His speaking of Jesus son of Mary and affirming this matter is part of his sunnah. Otherwise, Jesus will not bring a new law, nor will anyone bring a new law after Muhammad ﷺ. There is only the law of Muhammad, peace be upon him, until the Day of Resurrection.
Note: Some scholars have said that the messengers who warned their peoples about him did not warn them about the Dajjal himself; rather, they warned them about the general nature of his tribulation—that is, they warned them against false messiahs. However, this view is weak; indeed, it is a form of distortion, because the Messenger ﷺ stated that there was no prophet who did not warn his people about him,
